True to the Indian consciousness, Asha's art uses exuberant colors as a conduit for emotion and sensory abundance. Drawing deeply from the natural world, her work seeks to evoke a transcendental experience, one that oscillates between the real and the imagined realms. Her visual language merges the structural clarity of representation with the emotive freedom of abstraction to capture nature's mysticism.

Asha holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from the University of Calcutta. Her paintings have been exhibited and acquired by collectors in India and internationally. She currently lives in Columbus, Indiana with her husband Niraj.

ARTIST STATEMENT

 

A kaleidoscopic mind floating in tranquil spaces...

 

My works are a vibrant tapestry of nature's brilliance. I build up my paintings in multiple layers and textures giving them a luxuriant appearance. There is a thin line between real and imaginary. I place myself at the cusp of these two worlds to blur the difference and feel alive!

I’m drawn to subjects that are common yet profound and share a totemic relationship with humankind. Through a blend of color, texture, and pattern, I try to translate the mysticism of nature into a contemporary visual language.

​

A recurring element in my work is the thread, a symbol deeply embedded in Indian philosophy as a representation of connection and continuity. I blend my subjects with painted threads, either in their elemental form or in an intricately woven form, creating a dialogue between traditional and contemporary expression.

For me, my practice is a process that instills hope, clarity, and courage. It keeps me rooted in cultural memory while allowing space for introspection and renewal through each gesture.
